Tata has launched its Tigor as an electric vehicle. Tata is claiming that this car is better than other cars in the segment and it provides value for money in all aspects. Tata also has one Nexon as an EV in its portfolio but here with this Tigor EV, the company is placing itself in the sedan car segment.

Unlike the previous Tigor EV, which was primarily targeted at government and fleet operators, the 2021 Tata Tigor EV would be accessible to individual consumers. The Tigor EV may be pre-ordered online or through Tata dealerships, and the vehicle will be released on August 31.

If we talk about the front of the Tigor then you see the black-colored front grille with the Tata badging, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. You also get fog lamps, overall the looks are quite good.

If you see the car from the side profile then you can see four-spoke alloy wheels, auto fold ORVMs with the integrated indicators. Tigor also has some great elements which help to enhances the looks of the car like chrome door handles and the chrome strip below the glass area of the car.

At the back profile, you will see the compact backlight design and the Tata logo.

Interiors

The interior design of Tigor EV is fairly similar to the conventional Tigor on the inside. Tata is claiming that they have done lots of improvements regarding the room in the car, now you will get more space than before.

The NVH levels are down drastically so that you can find your car cabin silent. Now with the cabin silent, you will be able to make your journey more enjoyable.

Colors

Tata Tigor Ev is available only in teal blue color, this color looks fantastic it gives the car a different appearance.

We are hoping that tata will launch more colors of this car on 31 august 2021.

Safety

As we all know tata is known for the build quality of its cars so here is the Tata Tigor which is not an exception to this. Tata has offered so many essential safety features in this car.

  • The cage of the car is so solid (see the video to write)
  • Dual airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • Corner stability control
  • Hill ascent assist
  • Hill descent assist

Engine (motor)

The most significant change for the 2021 Tigor EV is the addition of Tata’s Ziptron EV powertrain, which was first introduced with the electric Nexon.

On the Tigor EV, the sophisticated Ziptron high-voltage 300V+ design employs a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that generates 75 horsepower and 170Nm of peak torque. This permits it to accelerate from 0 to 60 kilometers per hour in 5.7 seconds.

Battery Pack

The Tigor EV comes with a 26kWh Lithium-ion battery pack, as well as an IP67-rated battery pack and electric motor. The Tigor EV now supports rapid charging thanks to Ziptron technology.

The Tigor EV can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in about 60 minutes using a fast charger. Tata’s battery and motor come with an 8-year/160,000-kilometer guarantee.

Variants

Tata is offering this Tigor EV in three variants which are containing some variant-specific features. Most of the features are cosmetic changes in the car.

  • XM
  • XZ+
  • XZ+ DT

If we talk about the XM variant, it is the lower variant of the Tigor EV here you will get black door handles, steel wheels with plastic wheel covers, and a normal antenna.

In the XZ+ variant you will get alloy wheels instead of steel wheels, projector headlamps with daytime running lights, chrome door handles, auto foldable ORVMs with integrated indicators, and a shark fin antenna.

Last is the XZ+ DT is the topmost variant of the Tigor EV here you will get all the features of the XZ+ variant with a black-colored roof which adds to the aesthetics of the car.

Charging

The Tigor EV is compatible with the CCS2 charging standard, which will give it access to India’s quickly developing EV fast-charging network. This is a worldwide standard of EV charging.

This CCS2 supports both fast and slow charging. The company is claiming that if the car is charged from DC fast charger it takes about an hour to charge from 0% to 80%. If you go with the traditional 15 Amp home charger it will take eight and a half hours to charge the same.

Range

Tata didn’t say anything about the range of the car in one charge but as per the estimation, it will be around 250 km to 260 km.

Price

Tata has not declared the price of the car yet but it is estimated that the Tigor price will be around Rs 10 lakhs because if we see the Nexon EV price are around Rs. 14 lakhs to 17 lakhs so this Tigor EV will come a level below from it. The price will be revealed on 31 august 2021.

Verdict

In my opinion, Tigor EV is going to be a great car for the commuter segment and if Tata enhances the range of this car and keeps the prices down then this car would be a hit.

Tata Motors is already a leader in the EV race in India, and the new electric Tigor may give them a big chunk of the mass-market EV market. The Tigor EV has no direct competitors if they launch its car around Rs.10 lakhs on the market at this pricing.
