Bajaj Chetak electric scooter price, booking, ride, and comfort, full review

The bajaj chetak design is quite contemporary. This is the most gorgeous electric scooter in the Indian market. If you look at the lines flow is poetic, the natural flow of the design makes it more appealing. The daytime running lamps with integrated dynamic turn indicators look great. You can see no panels all around the scooter, it is crafted as a single panel which really enhances the esthetics of this Bajaj Chetak.

Despite the great looks, the Bajaj Chetak has no compromise on the ergonomics side. The handlebar is nice and low, the seat is broad and you feel that you are riding a conventional scooter, not an electric one.

The switch gears are of premium quality, a single switch can be used to open the boot behind the front apron and under the seat. Let’s discuss all the points below.

Bajaj Chetak: Design

The look of the Bajaj Chetak is based on a retro-themed design. It is packed with so many styling elements. See this electric scooter from any angle it looks stylish.

If you look at the front profile of the scooter, the headlight comes with an LED unit with a nicely glowing daytime running light all around the headlight. You can also see the chetak logo inside the light. The blinkers look great with the aluminium element. The whole body of Bajaj Chetak comes made of metal except the front mudguard, it is not provided by any other electric scooter by far.

The side looks don’t have any fancy element but the curves starting from the front, flow from here till the last.

In the rear you can see two units of lights here, blinkers and backlight both infused in one, which gives this scooter a unique look.

Bajaj Chetak: Ride and Comfort

The bajaj chetak has a nice and wide seat which really adds to the comfort. The suspension of the chetak is awesome, here you can experience what the bajaj has in the two-wheeler segment they put it to make this scooter comfortable. It can easily tackle any kind of road, you can ride at high speed and it also gives you confidence on the cornering.

The sweet spot is around 20 to 50 kmph. When you give the throttle above 85% then the scooter senses it and shifts your electric scooter from Eco to Sports mode. It really helps while climbing the flyover, you can easily stick with traffic and don’t feel underpowered.

Bajaj Chetak: Space

Bajaj offers good space in the scooter, unlike other Chinese scooters. You get little space behind the front apron, here your charger is placed in a pouch and still, you get adequate space for little things with this you get a USB mobile charger with a special place that holds your phone on the go.

You also have a hook in front of the seat, You have to press the Chetak logo to bring out the hook. After using the hook you just push the hook inside the seat and it stays there. On the floorboard, you also get a good space to place your bags.

Here you get a good 18-litre under-seat space, here you can keep your helmet and any other things easily. You also get light inside the under-seat boot.

Bajaj Chetak: Instrument Console

Bajaj offers a nice fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and offers a list of features. All the basic information is also displayed in it like time, speedometer, range, battery status, odometer and much more.

Bajaj Chetak: Technical Overview

Motor

Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 4 KW motor electric motor which is developed by bosch. It produces 16 nm of torque. It has so much power and acceleration you can’t even imagine.

Top Speed of Bajaj Chetak

Bajaj has limited the top speed of the Chetak to 60 kmph to keep the range as high as possible. It would be great if Bajaj takes the top speed numbers to 70 kmph. But by keeping this change in speed for increasing the range they make the scooter more practical in use and not give it a tag of performance scooter.

Bajaj Chetak battery specifications

The batteries have an IP67 rating which makes them dustproof and waterproof. The battery of this scooter is 48 volt, 60 amp. The battery takes around 5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%. 80% of the battery is available after charging for 3.5 hours. The battery is non-detachable which means you have to charge this chetak at your parking space.

Bajaj Chetak Mileage or Range

The battery performance of the bajaj chetak is quite impressive; it goes around 95 km in eco mode and 85 km in sports mode. It is enough for the people who are commuting to work and back on a daily basis.

Charging

Bajaj is supplying a home charger with the scooter without any additional cost. Bajaj provides a good quality charger of 15 amp with chetak. Generally, it takes around 4 hours to charge your scooter. At present, there is no provision for fast charging.

Bajaj Chetak Warranty

The Chetak lithium-ion battery is meant to last for 70000 kilometres, or 7 years, assuming the user keeps the battery charged above 15% capacity and uses it on a regular basis. Bajaj provides a 3-year or 50000 km warranty (whichever comes earlier).

Suspension

Bajaj deploys the Leading-link Suspension to the front and a single-sided swing arm at the rear is a very smart decision because that’s putting this nice alloy wheel in the rear which really takes the looks of the scooter to a level up.

Brakes

Bajaj Chetak offers disc brakes in the front and drums brakes at the rear. Chetak doesn’t offer ABS but it has a combi brake system which works well.

Tyres

Bajaj Chetak comes with 90/90 R12 tyres in the front and 90/100 R12 tyres in the rear. Bajaj also has both alloy wheels which gives the scooter an amazing look.

Pros and Cons

Pros.

  • Great quality
  • Power
  • Comfort
  • Space
  • Brakes
  • Range

Cons.

  • No fast charger option
  • No ABS

My minor Doubt

My doubt is: If you drop the scooter and a dent occurs then how will bajaj fix it or change the whole panel because this is a single metal panel. It might be a bigger pebble for the company.

Bajaj Chetak Price

Bajaj Chetak comes in two models first is Urbane and the second is premium. The prices started from 1 lakhs for the Urbane variant and went all the way up to 1.15 lakhs for the premium variant after deducting the state subsidy. Without state subsidy, it costs around Rs 1.5 lakhs.

In the premium variant, you can get disc brakes, premium seats and metallic colours.

Bajaj Chetak booking

The booking amount of bajaj chetak is Rs 2,000. You can book your bajaj chetak at your nearest dealership. You can also call or email bajaj to get the latest information about when the bookings start again.

Bajaj Chetak: Verdict

In my opinion, Bajaj Chetak is an unmatchable scooter that has all qualities with impressive looks and power. Everybody in the family can ride this scooter easily. Yes, it is costly but if you want to get a quality product you have to pay for it.

If Bajaj drops its price and is available all over the country the Chetak will become a no brainer offer.
