Royal Enfield Himalayan has a very strong build quality and stand-out design. A lot of enthusiasts loves this machine because of its simplicity, Royal Enfield doesn’t equip this bike with many sophisticated electronics but it are just an engine with two wheels in it.

If you are a real enthusiast then you can fix minor things on your bike on the go all by yourself. This is the reason that Royal Enfield has its tagline “MADE LIKE A GUN”.

Looks

Royal Enfield Himalayan looks are very nice and raw, still, it is a subjective matter that how you see Himalayan. It is a naked machine and this bike gives a macho look. This bike comes with many different color options in which some dual-tone and camouflage also. These colors give the bike a whole new look.

Royal Enfield also offers set panniers with this bike as an accessory If you install these panniers on the bike looks are going to a whole new level it looks like a big tourer bike.

Ride and Comfort

Royal Enfield Himalayan is easy and comfortable to ride. The sitting position of this bike is straight which is very comfortable for a long ride. In the new Himalayan 2021, Royal Enfield has given some extra cushioning to seats which made the bike more comfortable.

If we talk about bumpy roads or you want to do offroading, it is capable of everything. you can saddle on it, this is a happy bike when you take it offroading.

Color

Himalayan 2021 comes with many great color options and royal Enfield updates its colors range from time to time. Color options are – pine green, mirage silver, granite black, rock red, lake blue, and gravel grey.

Technical Overview

Here in this section of Himalayan, we will discuss some major technical specifications of the bike.

Engine

Himalayan comes with a 411 cc engine which is Single Cylinder, 4 Stroke, Air-cooled, SOHC, and fuel injected. It gives maximum power of 24.3 bhp @ 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 32 nm @ 4000 – 4500 rpm.

This bike is right mix of power and torque with this bike you can cruise on 90 to 95 km speed but if you want to go hilly area or offroad it will never loose control because it gives you enough low end torque. With this you can handle the bike quite easily.

Suspension

The front suspension of the bike is telescopic, 41 mm forks and the Rear suspension is Monoshock with linkage.

With this suspension setup, we can travel quite comfortably on all terrains and especially offroad and on no roads. Himalayan has very big wheel travel so that it can handle very harsh terrains easily.

Ground Clearance

The ground clearance of Royal Enfield Himalayan is 220 mm which great. With these numbers, you can travel anywhere on any kind of terrains very easily.

Nowadays I have seen many bikers prefer Himalayan to go to Leh, Ladakh, and many more tough places, Where it is not easy to reach but with this kind of bike you can mountains.

Brakes

In the brakes section of Himalayan, it provides in the front 300 mm disc, 2-piston floating caliper, and in the rear 240 mm disc, single-piston floating caliper.

One important thing I want to tell that this bike has ABS (antilock braking system) which is switchable to single-channel ABS. You can deactivate rear-wheel ABS with just a push of a button.

Fuel Capacity

Himalayan has a 15.5-liter fuel capacity by this you can get approx. 525 km range in one tank on the highway.

The Himalayan 2021 bs6 is giving great mileage, most of the customers are satisfied. If we talk about the city it is giving around 30 to 35 kmpl and on the highway, it is around 40 kmpl.

Seat Height

The seat height of the Himalayan is 800 mm which fine for people who are 5.6 feet or above. If you are 5.5 feet then you can manage this bike, it all depends on your riding style but if you are a lesser height than 5.5 feet then you have to think about it.

Tyres

Himalayan’s front wheel is 21″ and it comes with a 90/90 section tyre and in the rear, it comes with a 17″ wheel and a 120/90 section tyre.

These are all-terrain tyres so you can cruise on the highway and do a little bit of offroading with these tyres.

Price

The on-road price of Himalayan is Rs. 2,35,555 at my place. Do check the latest price in your city – check it.

Pros.

  • comfortable
  • raw biking
  • easy to maintain
  • great fuel economy
  • saddling
  • not much electronics

Cons.

  • less power
  • headlight
  • tube tyres

What’s good

Himalayan comes at a very good price if we consider the whole package Royal Enfield is offering. Like this bike can go cruise and handles tough terrains also.

The service cost and spares cost are not high. The bike is easy to maintain. Royal Enfield also offers panniers so that we can travel with luggage easily.

This bike offers great comfort for long rides and switchable ABS, tripper navigation, and much more offered by this bike.

What’s not

Himalayan doesn’t have many issues but some issues I want to disclose first is the headlight. The headlight is halogen not LED which is not sufficient for touring on highways at night.

Below the handlebars, you can see the place where the handle moves, this part was not covered well if the water goes into it the cone set it can be damaged. Most of the Himalayan face this problem.

There are some other fit and finish issues like indicator fitting, tank lid, and welding on some parts that are not good.

Improvements

If we talk about improvements in the new Himalayan 2021, Royal Enfield has updated so many things. some of them are given below.

Minor design updates

The bars on the fuel tank have been shortened significantly because tall riders complaint about the knee hitting the bars so Royal Enfield changed the whole setup so that it can cater to the whole set of riders.

The rear luggage rack has also redesigned now it is smaller, more functional, and in line with the seats.

New Seat

A lot of riders are dissatisfied with the Himalayan seats it is not that comfortable for the long touring but now Royal Enfield has done some changes to the seat and makes it more comfortable by adding some extra cushioning to it.

Tripper Navigation

Royal Enfield has added a small dial to the dash of Himalayan which is called tripper navigation. Royal Enfield has made this with the help of google maps. Now with this dial, you can easily navigate without using your phone but you first have to install the Royal Enfield app and connect this navigator with the phone and then you are good to go.

Windscreen

The new windscreen has wider and slightly taller now. Royal Enfield has given it a smoky finish but don’t worry it isn’t dark enough to affect your sight and you can ride Himalayan at night without any problem.

Some Improvements demanded by customers

Royal Enfield has updated its Himalayan still there is some work to do like frequent deterioration of the cone set, fitting alignment of some parts like indicator panel, handle and petrol tank lid and the side panels (on which Himalayan is imprinted) is not up to the mark.

With all this Royal Enfield should cross-check the parts where they do welding work like grab handles, nobody has done sanding to smooth those parts some of them are edgy which can harm.

Verdict

Overall my verdict on the Himalayan is the bike is a great value-for-money product to have. This is the bike which you can rely on for long rides. It can cruise all day long at a decent speed. You feel very comfortable on it.

Himalayan offers so many things like great seats, panniers, and many more which are very helpful to do long rides. I must say that there are some minor problems with the bike but what you get at this price point is unbeatable.
